Whew - It's been awhile since I posted anything!
Photos are way more interesting than words...
Weeks 2-4
Previously - the demo.
And before it all started.
There are even some random shots of the girls in the latest photos.
A quick recap of what's been happening:
Week 2: June 27th - July 3rd: They removed all the walls on the main floor and put the beams in. They reframed the basement stairs. Electrical work started. They also had to rework the plumbing from the the upstairs bathroom.
They also cut the opening for the french doors. The saw they used is worth about $7,000. Only one guy is allowed to use it.
Week 3: July 4th - July 10th: Electrical and plumbing continued. They started demo on the interior of the addition. The hardwood floor guy came and the floors in the kitchen look usable! We are also able to salvage a lot of the wood from the floors in the addition. The HVAC guys came and worked their magic. We won't have any soffits (those things tall people hit their head on) in the basement!
Week 4: July 11th - July 17th: All the electrical and plumbing in the main part of the house is finished. Drywall went up in the kitchen. The finally got the permit to remove the asbestos from the addition. 2 guys, 3 hours, $2500. ouch! They poured the new foundation wall for the addition (the old one was 10" too close to the property line). They also removed most of the addition.
This week (week #5) they are rebuilding the addition, and starting to finish the drywall in the kitchen / basement. The addition should be framed / sheathed by Wednesday, then they will do the electrical, plumbing, and mechanical.
So far everything is on schedule - it's supposed to be finished by mid-September.
